Bit about me:
I am a UK trained Chartered
Physiotherapist with 13 years of clinical experience. My specialities
are working with people who have spinal pain and sporting injuries.
Over the years I have worked in many clinics and hospitals throughout
London alongside some of the UK´s top Spinal, Orthopaedic
and Neurosurgeons as well known Sports Physicians. I have treated
many athletes and sportsmen both amateur and professional, including
dancers, martial artists, fotballers, marathon runners, triathletes
and rugby players from Blackheath rugby club and the England ladies
rugby.
Of course, the majority of the people I see work hard in front of
their computers for many hours and pick up repetitive strain injuries
and postural neck and back problems.
What really rocks my
boat is treating the really tricky cases, even if Physio or other
therapies have failed in the past.. the more difficult and chronic
the case, more I enjoy rising to the challenge!
Having moved to Barcelona
6 years ago, I have set up my business Fisioplus Pilates. I continue
to treat all types of injuries with a 50:50 caseload of English
and Spanish speakers.
On top of that I teach training courses across Spain for Spanish
Physios, teaching them how to assess a patient thoroughly and how
they can integrate Pilates techniques into their practice.
I also offer similar courses to Pilates Instructors, teaching them
assessment techniques and clinical implacations to broaden their
practice.

Pilates
Pilates is a system of exercises which are specifically designed
to target the core stability muscles. These muscles are particularly
important for the strength and stability of the back. In the majority
of cases, following an acute episode of back pain the function of
these muscles is inhibited. Should these muscles not be re-trained,
extensive research has shown the incidence of back pain recurring
is as great as 80%. Having used Pilates as part of my patients´
treatment programs for many years, and indeed for my own personal
rehabilitation following a very severe back injury, I truly believe
that retraining core muscles and posture is an essential part of
achieving a successful outcome in the long term.
Having trained extensively
with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI)
and the Kinetic Control group, well known throughout the UK, Australia
and some European countries, I am running courses to teach therapists
in Spain how they can apply the methods of Pilates to their everyday
clinical practice. Currently I am looking for clinics and/or hospitals
which can accommodate the courses. Free places are available to
the centres which host and run the courses. For more information
on the content of the courses see Fisio Pilates courses or please
